RESIDENTS for a more beautiful Syosset
has accomplished SO MUCH…

Created a 300 foot long community garden on Jackson Avenue opposite Saint Edward’s Church, paying for upkeep, ongoing maintenance, and professional landscaping.

Secured the donations for the 60+ American flags that line Jackson Avenue for Memorial Day, Flag Day and Independence Day. With assistance from the Syosset Fire Department who installed them, the VFW and American Legion will proudly fly them each summer hereafter.

Started the ball rolling on children’s playgrounds and local parks being updated and replaced by the Town of Oyster Bay.

Made major improvements at Syosset Memorial Park at Jackson Avenue and Underhill Blvd. with new plantings and professional landscaping, including upkeep. We wish to continue to honor those who served our country, and those who currently secure our freedoms.

Planted and maintain the garden at the Syosset Post Office.

Work with Nassau County Police to identify and remove graffiti in our neighborhood.

Publish newsletters and hold open meetings to keep the community informed. We provide a public forum to express opinions and concerns and invite various public and elected officials to attend.

Hosted a Pedestrian Road Show with federal, state, county, and town representatives in an attempt to correct conditions for improved safety and traffic flow throughout our town. Also regularly meet with TOB Highway Department about repairs, upkeep, and maintenance.

Worked with Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor John Venditto to plant over 130 trees along Jackson Avenue and Ira Road to maintain the residential and suburban character of our town. We have met with officials from NY State DOT about lining Jericho Turnpike from Route 135 to Robbins Lane with hundreds of trees in the future.

We are active with the Chamber of Commerce, other Syosset civic groups, and the United Civics of North Oyster Bay presenting a unified force of homeowners and businesses on major issues that affect us all. We attend town meetings regarding zoning board, land use issues and open space preservation.

Participation in community activities and events like the Village holiday tree lighting ceremony, Syosset pride/clean-up day, Memorial Day parade, Arts and Crafts Fair, Stillwell Preserve patrols.

Update our website for your access to newsletters and information.

As you can see, the list continues to grow. 95% of the work is being done by unpaid volunteers who make up the board of Residents for a more beautiful Syosset. We give our time, sweat, gasoline and money to help make Syosset a better place to live, while still tending to our own families, jobs and homes. We know everyone is busy, and lack of time prevents many from participating...

BUT YOU CAN HELP, just by joining and maintaining a membership. Remember, it’s only $35.00 a year, and EVERY PENNY GOES RIGHT BACK INTO YOUR COMMUNITY.

RESIDENTS for a more beautiful Syosset is a not-for-profit corporation exempt from income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Accordingly, all donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by federal law.
